About Energy Star
Energy Star is a government-backed program of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE). It provides a symbol for energy efficiency, helping consumers and businesses make informed decisions. Since 1992, Energy Star and its partners have helped American families and businesses save 5 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity. DOE and EPA signed an updated agreement on March 3, 2026, naming DOE as the lead federal agency.
