The Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) is a Philadelphia-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1984. Their mission is to help people conserve energy and promote a sustainable and socially equitable energy future. ECA coordinates low-income energy services and provides energy conservation, education, heating, and home repair services to reduce energy costs for households and stabilize families in their communities. ECA also operates the Knight Green Careers Training Center to prepare Philadelphia residents for clean energy jobs. ECA is a regional leader in energy efficiency retrofits for existing residential properties. ECA provides high-quality energy conservation and weatherization services to low and moderate-income residents of Philadelphia and Delaware. They also operate 16 Neighborhood Energy Centers (NECs) across Philadelphia, serving as one-stop shops for utility assistance, LIHEAP applications, and connections to additional services. ECA's Heater Hotline offers crisis repair of heating systems, free of charge, for income-eligible homeowners, along with preventative maintenance and tune-ups during the off-season. ECA's energy audits provide an in-depth evaluation of a home's energy efficiency, conducted by certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) energy auditors. Recipients receive a comprehensive report with recommended upgrades, repairs, and energy services to improve their homes' energy efficiency. ECA also partners with The Energy Co-op to offer comprehensive home energy audits. ECA has a three-star rating from Charity Navigator, indicating solid performance in accountability and finance. They have a team of 65 Building Performance Institute, Inc. certified building analysts, weatherization technicians, and inspectors.
